Ross found his passion for acting as a teenager in the 1980s, beginning in local theatre, before working professionally from age 16, in television. His first role was in the acclaimed series, “The Flying Doctors” for Crawfords. He later trained at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA), graduating in 1989.
His early-stage performances showcased range and depth. From the complex naivete and vulnerability of Private Jack Marriott in Clem GormanA Manual of Trench Warfare at Sydneys Crossroads, to portraying Albie McRanald, a Scottish schizophrenic in a wheelchair, in The Information at Belvoir Street Theatre - Company B. His tour of Tasmania as Bottom in A Midsummer Night Dream for Heavenly Production in the late 1990’s attracted positive reviews.
Throughout his career, Ross has tackled some iconic theatrical roles such as playing Romeo in Romeo & Juliet, Bill Walker in George Bernard Shaws &Major Barbara, and Medvedenko in Chekhov’s The Seagull; as well as playing real-life Moscow Arts Theatre character actor, Ivan Moskvin in “Chekhov in Yalta”, directed by Aubrey Mellor.
Ross played Greg Marshall in "Home and Away” from 1991-93-2000 with other core cast Television Credits including, Family & Friends, GP, Pacific Drive and guest appearances in shows such as “My Brother Tom”, “Rafferty’s Rules”, Farscape, All Saints, Cops LAC among others. More recently, Ross portrayed Jason Duncan, a television morning show anchor, in a short film called Face the Music,by Shannon Watts and played appeared in a music video for Winter Swim titled Late for Love.
